Paradigm

Paradigm

Having spent nearly 2 years as a UX/UI designer for Paradigm, I worked on nearly 80 different projects during my time there. I was lead designer for a tablet software called Vendo, worked on custom solutions for customers, built design systems, and more.

Project Overview

Challenge

Having worked on a multitude of projects for Paradigm I decided to select a fun project where I was given a lot of creative control.

The challenge was “How do we give customers using the home models page, access to more information?”.

Solution

Using text hierarchy and tags, I created an easily scannable home page that provides all the necessary information for a new home buyer.

Team

Lead UX/UI Designer

Time

1 Week

Task

Redesign the community home models page to provide a better resource for new home buyers.

Tools

Figma, Mobbin, Zillow, Apartments.com

Requirements

The previous screen had no interactions and minimal information; this gave me a lot to expand on.

The flow above consists of home image > hover over home > customize home. I decided to focus on two things.

“How do we give users more information on these pages? What kind of information is valuable for new home buyers?”.

With these parameters in place, there were only two requirements for my design.

  • There must be a customizable banner section for our customer.(in this case Reeds Vale)

  • Provide users with more information before selecting a home to customize

From left to right, you’ll see the old design, and my design solution.

First Iteration

During the exploration phase I designed 7 iterations that I presented to project manager. After refinement we explore a few alternative methods of displaying valuable information to the homeowner. Some of the things seen in this exploration

  • Hover animations for images, with description text

  • Tag/filtering system

  • “Customize” CTA

  • Plan details

Second Iteration

After refining the first iteration the next step was to consider the sitemap of the page. The original design took users directly to the “Visualizer” which was Paradigm’s primary product for home customization. Upon doing research with competitors, the most common flow was to bring users to a designated page for the specific home you’re viewing.

Final Design

Here we look at the final design. We can see all the things that stuck from the past iterations and the small changes that were added to the dedicated home page. The biggest additions were

  • Including most valuable “Plan Details” information on landing page

  • Ability to download the Floor Plan of a home

  • Mobile adaptation of each page

Final Thoughts

Working at Paradigm I often ran into developer limitations and time constraints. This project was something where I had all the possible freedom. I loved how this turned out and am very proud to be a big part of this redesign.
